Our beliefs and values
Smárakirkja was founded in June 2014 and the starting point of the church is love.
The church's guiding principle is to preach the word of God and to strengthen the individual.
We find it very important to love our neighbor as ourselves, as Christ preached, and to consider those who are least fortunate in our society.
We see what we do for the least of us as doing for Christ.
That's why we want to empower the individual and inspire people to greatness.
Love is absolutely the guiding light in this church, and everything we do we approach from a base of love and tolerance.
We all have things that need fixing and we believe that just as our children need an environment of love and encouragement first and foremost to succeed, so do we all. People are further empowered to do what is right when we stop focusing on what they are doing wrong and start focusing on what is being done well and right and we believe that is where the church should be.
We want people here to have a voice that is heard and for their talents to be enjoyed, and we want people to step into their roles and flourish here in the church.
We have many different kinds of work here at the church, such as children's work, music work, and prayer work.
The church has placed great emphasis on relief work, and we therefore founded the Hope Relief Work, which has grown enormously in recent years as the need in society is great.
We want to take up Christ's challenge to be an extension of Him into society or to be the hands and feet of Jesus and show the love that He showed to all who came across His path.
