April Has Been a Rich and Uplifting Month in Smárakirkja

April has been a busy and spiritually uplifting month in Smárakirkja. God has been doing wonderful things among us, and the joy in our community is tangible.

Powerful Messages and New Preachers

On Good Friday, Gunnar Scheving delivered his first sermon in the church. He spoke about the love of God, and he did exceptionally well. The message was Christ‑centered, encouraging, and blessed. Two weeks later he preached again, this time on the salvation we have in Christ, and he has now stepped into the group of strong and capable preachers in Smárakirkja.

We are deeply grateful for the solid and wholesome foundation our preachers build upon: Christ alone and His finished work on the cross.

Baptisms – A Public Declaration of Faith in Christ

This month we have also had the joy of baptizing several individuals, which is always a great blessing. Baptism is a public declaration of following Jesus, and Scripture reminds us of its importance:

“Whoever acknowledges me before others, I will also acknowledge before my Father in heaven.”   — Matthew 10:32

It brings us great joy to see people take this step of faith and obedience.

Home Groups and Teaching – Healthy Spiritual Growth

Our home groups have been very well attended in April, and the teaching has helped the church put down deep roots in sound biblical doctrine. The apostle Paul reminds us:

“Let your roots grow down into him, and let your lives be built on him.”   — Colossians 2:7

The growth is visible in love, good works, and warm fellowship.

Daily Bible Reading – Growing Together in God’s Word

Our daily Bible‑reading group is in full swing. We have completed the books of Moses and the Gospels, and it has been both educational and inspiring to see how the Old and New Testaments reflect one another.

The church is reading through the entire Bible in one year, and it is a great blessing to do this together. Unity in the house of God produces growth, fellowship, and strength.

May – Spring Conference and a Visit from Stefan Salmonson

In May we welcome our dear friend, Stefan Salmonson, back to Iceland. He will be with us from May 8–11, and this will be our spring conference for the year. We are very excited and encourage you to come and join us—especially during this special weekend.

Stefan is a true man of God and a good friend of Smárakirkja. It is always an honor and a blessing when he ministers with us.

A Bright Future – God Is Doing New Things

Smárakirkja is full of hope and expectation for what God is doing among us. We look forward to the coming season and to all that the Lord will reveal.
